Name Suffixes Explained

When making a Father Name, you have several options. The first and easiest is replacing the feminine suffix in the mother's name with -iel, but that isn't your only choice. You can simply change the name suffix into a different one. Say you have a woman named Mýldis - Seagull Bride (mŷl+dîs). Her daughter's father name could be Mýliel, Mýleth, Mýlien, Mýlhel, or Mýlwen. Note that in Mýldis' daughter's list of possible names I didn't include the suffixes referring to females older than childhood. Since the Father Name is given when she is still a baby, suffixes like "young woman" aren't appropriate.

-eth
"Female." It simply makes a word a feminine name.
-ien
"Female one of..." A feminine name suffix that indictates origin, like the word "of".
iell/-iel
"Daughter", "daughter of..." and "little girl." It also can be used to explain her origin, like "of."
sell
"Maiden," "girl" and "daughter." It's used in names given when she is still a child.
gwend
"Maiden" and "virgin" used in names given when she is not yet married.
neth
"Teenage Girl," used in names given to a girl as she approaches adulthood.
dîs
"Bride," used in names given to a woman around the age she is likely to marry.
dess
