| 1856 | Narmacil II leads an army north and meets the the Wainriders in battle on the plains south of Mirkwood. With him is an army of Northmen of Rhovanion led by Marhari (a descendant of Vidugavia). Narmacil is defeated, both he and Marhari fall. Gondor loses its eastern territories. Eastern and southern Rhovanion are enslaved by the Wainriders. Some Northmen flee north and merge with the people of Dale. Others, led by Marhwini (son of Marhari), settled in the Vale of the Anduin between the Carrock and the Gladden - this is the begining of the Éothéod.
